WEB 3.0 and War.

What is Web 3? Essentially it’s the same web you are using now, but, “decentralized”. Meaning, the big tech and governments don’t control the flow of information and money. That’s the idea, at least on paper. The problem is, It’s not that great and common people don’t really need or want decentralization, they need a different type of regulation. But I’ll get into that topic and W3 some other time.

W3 fanatics want the world to believe that taking away the power from the government, banks, and regulators will somehow make everything better and safer on this planet. The truth is it won’t. The only difference is that more power will now be in the hands of the masses. You are probably thinking, why is that an issue man!? That sounds great!

Let’s talk about it.

Like it or not, the masses are controlled and manipulated easily. We are all emotional creatures, and most of us don’t make great choices when we are pressed emotionally.

For example, when the Russia-Ukrain war started, cryptocurrency holders all over the world donated over 4 million dollars to the Ukraine army.

Not the red cross, or some other humanitarian organization, but the army. Financing a war and helping people kill people.

I’m not getting in to politics, naturally I condemn Russian assault on Ukraine, it is horrible and unfair what is happening there, but can you imagine how problematic this donation really is. Sure, we can say it’s about helping Ukraine defend their country, but you don’t know where and how that money will be spent. There is a good reason world leaders send humanitarian aid and weapons in rare cases. And if they do send weapons it’s like a declaration of war. This is very dangerous.

Why?
Ok, read this slowly.

- Civilians are financing a war and killing, with cryptocurrency, based on their perception of events. Apply that to any other conflict.

Sounds like a great idea?

On the other side, there is so much good that was and can be done with cryptocurrency. The problem is, who decides what’s good or bad? We the people? With our daily concerns and social media telling us what to think and how to feel?

This is something worth discussing when implementing Web 3.
