Good mental health and mental fortitude is more important than education and motivation for building a long and successful career.

It’s not just about skills, motivation, not giving up and how big your network is. Your mind makes all the calls, and it’s the first thing you need to train and take care of. If you’re not mentally fit and resilient you’re going to have a really hard time achieving your full potential.

Mental health can be affected by many factors. How much rest and sleep you get in one day, week, month. Your overall physical activity, relationships, love, diet, new experiences, personal issues, the quality of content you consume and engage with online and offline. Even the time you spend in nature can affect your mindset.

In 2018, The Lancet journal of medicine published reported where they stated that mental disorders is on the rise all over the world. It also estimated that issues with mental health will cost the global economy $16 trillion by 2030.

To make matters worse, the pandemic escalated this issue, but it also brought mental health care into even greater focus for employers and public.

Mental health is not just a matter of personal wellness, it’s an important business metric. In my opinion, if companies invest in mental health of the workforce, they can greatly benefit from it.

We don’t like to talk enough about these issues in our private lives and business. But I also believe this will change with time.
