9 things I learned that changed how I live and work (In the last 9 years).
- Most people you spend your time with don’t really care about you. Sure, you hang out together from time to time and that’s fun. People that care about you are there even when it’s not fun. They don’t judge you, they take the time to really listen. They love spending time with you, and will always try to find the time to see you, even if they have busy lives. If they don’t, they are in your life just because it suits them at the time.
- It’s ok to reach out to other people outside your circle and ask for help with your career or life in general. There is always a solution, and someone might know something you don’t.
- Money is a bad motivator for anything in life. If you have no money, you should never be hungry for money. Focus on building a skill set the market needs and try to provide the best service possible. Be motivated by solving problems for people, making your community better. Pick whatever makes you happy and excited for motivation, but don’t be motivated by money.
- Don’t be afraid if you don’t have money for the things you require at the moment. Do great work, improve your skill set, invest in positive relationships with people who motivate and inspire you, build your network and give back to your community. Money will always come and fear is not helpful.
- You are not your career. If you are not happy with your current work-life arrangement, you can always find something else to do with your life. It’s pretty simple.
- It’s ok to admit that you failed, it’s ok to forgive yourself for failing. The sooner you do, the better. Nothing good comes from feeling guilt and shame and carrying that around you.
- Life is never fair. Don’t expect anything, you will save your self a lot of pain and disappointment.
- Don’t try to impress anyone. Nobody cares. People that dislike you will never be impressed, and the people who like you don’t care how popular and successful you really are.
- Your words, ideas, and actions can impact peoples lives in a positive or negative way. Depending on how much they care about you, what you think and say. It’s up to you to decide how you want to impact their lives.
